About Us
ThyConnect integrates patients into online communities, which help them cope with Thyroid Diseases - Hashimoto's Disease, Hyperthyroidism, Hypothyroidism, and Thyroid Cancer.
Connecting patients with similar backgrounds and issues provides much-needed
support. Patients can create a personal thyroid profile to graphically monitor
their symptoms and treatments.
Each patient of a thyroid disease faces unique circumstances. Since the
thyroid affects energy and emotions, it is often difficult to deal with
problems of thyroid hormone production. Even small tasks in our lives might
become burdensome. Whether we are a young woman with a desire to start a
family, an older man or woman looking forward to retirement, or an athlete, we
each face problems unique to our own situation. Friends on ThyConnect share
more than their thyroid problems; they share their life experiences and help
one another through difficult times.
ThyConnect is the brainchild of two Princeton University students, Poshak
Agrawal and Carter Greenbaum. Carter, as a male under thirty with no family
history of thyroid disease, was shocked by the diagnosis and wished to find
patients in a similar situation. Poshak, having seen Carter's condition as his
freshman-year roommate, felt strongly about the problems faced by Thyroid
patients. He also had the exposure to the start-up world having been involved
with Princeton
Entrepreneurship Club. Carter and Poshak partnered to create
ThyConnect to assist patients of this lesser-known disease in 2009.
The accumulation of individual experiences on this site adds up to an
online encyclopedia of advice for all. We hope that ThyConnect facilitates your
journey and helps to pave the road to an easier life.
